ReloFig shows how every number is built. All dollar figures are model-based estimates from public U.S. government data and published industry benchmarks. They are planning tools, not quotes.

Public data we use

• BLS Occupational Employment Statistics — regional mover/laborer wages, anchoring hourly rates. bls.gov/oes
• EIA — national on-highway diesel average, applied as a documented fuel surcharge percentage. eia.gov
• IRS — moving-expense and business deductibility context. irs.gov
• U.S. Census — population and cost-of-living context for city-level estimates. census.gov
• FMCSA — household-goods carrier authority, estimate rules, and liability. fmcsa.dot.gov

Household local move model

Estimated as crew labor (two movers + truck, scaled by region and local cost-of-living), plus travel fee, plus optional packing. Hours scale with home size.

• Two movers + truck: $90 – $210/hour (blended national range)
• Each additional mover: $35 – $65/hour
• Packing labor: $40 – $85/hour
• Regional multiplier: Northeast 1.12, Midwest 0.95, South 0.92, West 1.08
• Cost-of-living multiplier: High 1.25, Medium 1, Low 0.85

Household long-distance model

Linehaul transport per mile, plus a fuel surcharge (4% of linehaul, EIA diesel), plus origin/destination load-unload labor. Weight tiers: studio 2,000 lb → 4BR 10,000 lb.

Commercial models

Office relocation ($90 – $210 baseline scaled to $/sqft), equipment rigging ROM, employee relocation, and facility build-out all use documented industry benchmark ranges with explicit contingencies. See each commercial calculator for its breakdown.
