New-Home Final Walkthrough Checklist

Do this at the final walkthrough — before money changes hands.

• ☐ Test every light switch, outlet, and fixture
• ☐ Run water; flush toilets; check under sinks for leaks
• ☐ HVAC heats and cools; filters present
• ☐ Windows and doors open, lock, and seal
• ☐ Appliances work (stove, fridge, dishwasher, laundry)
• ☐ Garbage disposal and sump pump (if any)
• ☐ Smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors installed
• ☐ Garage door opener and remotes
• ☐ Inspect walls, ceilings, and floors for damage
• ☐ Confirm all agreed repairs are completed
• ☐ Record utility meter readings
• ☐ Collect keys, mailboxes, gate codes, and remotes
